Is there a Linux Games portal?

This thread is basically a duplicate of one I made over on IndieGamer: http://forums.indiegamer.com/showthread.php?t=10600 Basically I've read a few threads (many of them old) about Linux games actually selling. At first I was dubious because I assumed that people who got a free OS might only play free games (please don't flame me Linux users) but it seems I was wrong. But what sort of games do Linux users play; retro/action, or casual games too? Also, where are Linux games being sold? Just on the developers' websites or is there a decent Linux portal? I found this but can't immediately see any mainstream games: http://www.linuxlinks.com/Software/Games/ Anyone got anything to add? Thanks! |

I don't know if there is any linux specific site, but there are some mini-portals that are multichannel - PC/Mac/Linux like absolutist (IIRC). There must be some others too. best Roman |

I've seen quite a few developer sites selling Linux games, but I too have noticed a shortage of general portals. Looks like someone could make some money if such a portal were to be created.... ;) As for what Linux users play, I would imagine that all types of games could sell well simply because the market isn't saturated. Especially with Dell coming onto the Linux scene we could see the demand for casual Linux games grow. |

Tachyon: Yeah I was just thinking the same thing! |

http://happypenguin.org/ Is probably noteworthy, although the frequency of good games being introduced has declined lately. |
