Hi everybody, i was hoping to get some quick help on a problem im having with my windows media player.

There is a problem with the video playing portion of it. When I click on a video to start playing it in windows media player, all it does is open the window, and play the audio for the video.

The problem started when i updated my windows media player to windows media player 11. I even redownloaded it and it still doesnt work.

If none of you can help then ill just email the tech people, so dont worry too much about it.

Thanks for listening, and hope you can help.

You don't have the necessary video codecs for the file in question. Reinstall your codecs.

Thanks alot. But i dont know much about video codecs.

Which would i download?
Would it be one fore windows media player or is it based on something else?

This is the one I personally use:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

I install it with the "Lots of Stuff" option. It should play just about any file you throw at it after that. Although it installs media player classic, I still play everything through Windows Media Player except for the rare oddball format that will only work via media player classic.

Hope this helps.

Ok thank you for your help. Ill try that.

Edit: Ok now this is getting annoying. I try to open the video in the K-Lite Media Player Classic and it does the same thing. Black screen.

Edit Again: The problem is still here, but i found a way around it. Im just using the Zune software to watch videos now. Works just as good.
