1. There are no formal plans (at least, they haven't gone public in saying so) to discontinue Blitz3D updates AFAIK.

2. You can't deform X and 3DS model formats. You CAN deform MD2 and B3D model formats.

Perhaps you should reply to the person that sent you the e-mail if their response was unclear?

1. This is news to me but if it came straight from Blitz Research then I guess it must be true. It makes sense though considering they've already abandoned Blitz2D in the move to BlitzPlus; it's probably the same situation only for Blitz3D moving to BlitzMax.

2. Blitz3D supports deforming single mesh models via vertex animation of md2 models and skeletal animation of b3d models. When you say "it aint" I'm curious what exactly you mean. Have you tried to use either md2 or b3d file format?

Well, it came straight to us from Goober, not Blitz Research. I'm sure there was a misunderstanding in the email you got, Goober, because it would be highly illogical to discontinue work in Blitz3D. Mark's put plenty of work into Maplet and talked about getting B3D upgraded to DX9 (though this will understandably take some time) and it seems that in order to accept the "vis" support Mark's working on in Maplet, B3D will need another update anyway!!

Blitz3D *will* be receiving further updates.

I have no recollection of receiving an email about 'single mesh deforming objects', but both MD2 and B3D boned meshes would, in my opinion, qualify.

Just for the record, Goober emailed me (end of April) about single mesh deforming .x objects, and although I said this wasn't supported (ie. DX8 .x models), at no point did I say Blitz3D won't be receiving any more updates!
