patisawesome, perhaps we can all help suggest names for your game; but what's the game about my friend?

Hansie(Posted 2003) [#6]
patisawesome, I have now discovered that you are doing an FPS.

why not call the game "Kill'em'all" ... those of you with "good" music taste knows where THAT title is used .. and it's not copyrighted

Warren(Posted 2003) [#7]
If you use that, please spell it correctly.

FlameDuck(Posted 2003) [#8]
I recomend "MyCoolGame".

Hansie(Posted 2003) [#9]
or how about "another cool FPS" ;-)

FlameDuck(Posted 2003) [#10]
Or "Yet Another Boring Unimaginative Repetitive Forumlaric FPS"? :o> You could even make it a clever acronym. YABURF-FPS. Ofcourse feel free to rearrange the order of the letters. Perhaps you can create a good one that just rolls of the tounge.

patisawesome(Posted 2003) [#11]
I'm just going to use StormDimension.(Nice names though! not all of them would fit it.)

patisawesome, best of luck with your game. looking forward to seeing screenshots. But being a former games-journalist and Editor-In-Chief for many games magazines, the name StormDimension does not "immediately strike me" as an FPS. But the decision is of course yours :-)

Ice9(Posted 2003) [#13]
Storm Dimension sounds like a good name but it should fit the theme of your game. What's the theme of your game?
Do you have a one-pager of the game telling what it's all about.
After the one-pager try a five-pager with more detail then dig in and write your Design decument of how everything is going to work in your game.

If you want to call it "StormDimension" then call it that - I don't think a computer game name has to be unique - I seem to remember 2 games called "Virus" (possibly one had to be subtitled to be unique). Books/songs/films can have the same name. I don't think it would matter if a book/film were called "StormDimension" as long as your game doesn't follow the same plot and have similar characters, etc. I think the worse case scenario is a developer may contact you and politely ask you to change the name of your game (should they be working on a game called "StormDimension"). Unless you are planning a commercial release, I wouldn't be too bothered.

GameCoder(Posted 2003) [#15]
you could try the generaterandomgamename() function. That really works nice for me. :D

Now that you have a cool name, the rest is peanuts.

Hansie(Posted 2003) [#17]
Yup!, the name of the game is VERY important! I am doing several games, one called CRIMINAL INSANE .. or is that just my wife's nickname to me?
