I've been searching to boards for more information about physics. I've found several libraries that will extend the Blitz3D commands. There are just so many... Which one would be suitable for a newbie to experiment with?

And what other 'must have' libraries can you recommend me to expand my current Blitz3D package?

JV-ODE also rulez, and its nice and mr.Vip3r is real gentleman who responding very fast and sometimes fixing problem for you(thats what he did for me)...but you have to say PLEASEEEE :) (joke...guy is great) :)

Mortiis(Posted 2008) [#3]
JV-ODE Physics
Swift Shadow System
FastLibs
Particle Candy & Sprite Candy
Grassparty & Treeparty

This is my current setting except JV-ODE. All great libs.

Is rubux(?) physx still supported. Can't find a website for it anymore.

Thanks, I will look into those!

Found all of the libraries but the only link I found of Swift Shadow System was dead. Anyone got that one?

Any other suggestions perhaps? Making a little list before I buy/download... Perhaps one for AI?

Thanks!

I've had , and am having a great deal of fun with JV-ODE, there is a large amount of example code provided with the engine and it is VERY reasonably priced.

As someone else pointed out VIP3R is very helpful with any niggles you are struggling to resolve - invaluable help in itself.

Still not completely sure what to buy excalty. JV-ODE looks good but I also found Rubux PhysX wrapper. Which one has the most features and which one is the easiest to work with?

I also plan on buying something to expand the visual effects, like bump mapping, light and shadow. Fastlibs, which Mortiis suggested, looks quite good but are there any more that are capable of many visual effects?

I also found out about Devil-Engines, several libraries which adds numour features. Good thing, its completely free! Is this any good compared to the commercial libraries?

Thanks a lot!

I'm with Naughty on both counts if you want and need optimum support there are few better on this forum than Vipr so go with JV-ODE. His support is 'shock and awe' support.

I'm convinced. Thanks!

I bought it, still a bit intimidated by the code :P (I will learn!)

I tried to buy the FastLibs but it does not accept my e-mail for credit card or something, while I simply wish to pay through pay pall...

Any alternatives to that one? I found a few but they seem off-line :(
