Hi

Are there any books on Blitz3D (or planned)? I see that Premier Press has published a DarkBasic book.

Thanks.

Paul

There is a new book out called Game Programming for Teens I hope it has all the things you need like programming joysticks, and I mean the x ,y and U as well as joyroll axis
plus vehicles and in and out vehicle programming

I don't think that book really goes into 3d at all. As has been noted, that makes at least 2 books covering beginner 2d, but no advanced 3d book. AFAIK there are none planned. Maybe someone could write one; I don't know how viable a publishing proposition it would be though. Perhaps, just more 3d tutorials are needed?

Well there should be a new 3D book as Dark Basic has got one out and I am getting that book

I know why: because it has joystick hat yeah? your entire life revolves around programming joystick commands.

Ricky Smith(Posted 2003) [#6]
LOL ! ;)

Der Vampyr Engel(Posted 2003) [#7]
It's important and I am learning it all :), but your right about my life revolving around programming joystick commands
(it sucks but I want it done) also there are other things need doing, I would love to know how to program my own world editor for a start

I believe it's time for a book on the 3D side of Blitz!!!
...and if nobody is planning to do this, maybe i will start to write one soon...and if it's not good enough or something to publish, then it probably will still be good enough as a tutorial-collection!

Der Vampyr Engel(Posted 2003) [#9]
Thanks Sopisoft and good luck if you do write it, anyway, why not write a book on Blitz Basic, it would save a lot of newbie questions and questions which seem to annoy the established programmer if there was a book, That is why C++ , even though it's a difficult language, get's used for games because of the amount of books out and also, now with the web, the additional amount of resources about.

I don't see it doing that language any harm

SopiSoft(Posted 2003) [#10]
there are already 2 books out on Blitz2D so i guess it is better to do one on Blitz3D only, and if i would combine the two then it would take way too much time to complete it...although publishers may be more interested if the book covers whole BlitzBasic...

Cold Harbour(Posted 2003) [#11]
I'd buy a book in Blitz3D since I'm a 3D thicko.

Der Vampyr Engel(Posted 2003) [#12]
I would say do the 3D Blitz book as 2D is already very heavily supported

Der Vampyr Engel(Posted 2003) [#13]
If I may be so bold, please put in things like Joystick axis input, how to build a world editor, how to make a flight/space sim or a 1st person shooter or a 3DR.T.S actually sohow people how to actually construct the beginnings of a 3D game so perople would be able to actually code their own engine, I would be glad to help once I learn more about Blitz3D

3D Joystick Editor Programming for Teens ;)

Ricky Smith(Posted 2003) [#15]
LOL !

PaulM(Posted 2003) [#16]
Okay! So when do we expect Blitz3D for Toddlers?

Anthony Flack(Posted 2003) [#17]
How about 3d game programming for the elderly? Comes with a cd featuring several Doris Day hits in tracker format.

Der Vampyr Engel(Posted 2003) [#18]
Whatever, still I hope you do a book for newbies like me, good luck Sopisoft
