A search for the code archives. It surely can't be that hard or take that much time to implement. I remember someone asking for it about a year ago. :/

Genexi2(Posted 2005) [#2]
I'd rather they fix the current search for the forums before decidin' to add another search for the other portions of the site. =\

How hard can it be? I mean honestly... The code archives is kinda pointless, without someway to search them.

you can always use ctrl-f, but you'll have to do that on each page.
or use google.

Google is yer friend. "site:http://www.blitzbasic.com codearcs <search term>"

You must be kidding? Consumes time? It surely can't be that hard a thing implement? I do search google. But it searches the whole site, and brings up posts related to the thing i'm searching. It's not the point though. The site should have a search feature for both posts and the archives.

This has my vote.

Ross C, it consumes time - and that time is much better used if put into updates and adding new features to B3D.
That's what I would suggest.

Well firstly, that assumes that the Blitz webmaster is also a B3d coder, which I'm not certain is the case.

And as for updates and new features for b3d, please don't make me laugh until the stiches come out. I'd settle for a few bug fixes for B3d.

Ross C(Posted 2005) [#12]
RaGR, sounds pretty easy to use... Alot easier than having an actual search feature.

Yes.

Check out the drop down box. It has 4 different options, to presumably 4 different ppl. I know there is at least 3 ppl who work on blitz.

RGR(Posted 2005) [#16]
Yes, Ross C, it is easier that way...
If you update it it loads only the new files.
You can use a program called WhereIsIt which is a catalog program that catalogs your harddrives and DVDs and has better search functions than the windows explorer... its up to your imagination :-)

More than one person works on blitz and the site. I was being slightly sarcastic about the easier to use thingy too... I just want this to be finally implemented if possible...

Yeah...

It's been asked for about a year ago. I'm requesting a feature, a very basic one at that. If you don't agree it should be implemented, that's fine. Everyone's entitled tto their opinion. Whether BR take note of this, i don't know either. I just feel it really needs a search feature to make it more accessable.

Caff(Posted 2005) [#22]
Yes please.

N(Posted 2005) [#23]
Why are some people opposed to adding a useful feature? It's almost as if you people are against doing things logically.

Picklesworth(Posted 2005) [#24]
Because they have a weird idea that it's better if they spend more time "repairing" the search function (which I have managed to use quite succesfully, I add), than about an hour moving the code archives back into a forum thread in the same method as last time, and adding a search function to it.

They also believe that progress is not allowed unless something that already works is "fixed".

Agamer(Posted 2005) [#25]
I also think this should be implemented, it will just make the code archives a lot more useful!

Graythe(Posted 2005) [#26]
Seems like an excellent idea.
