Wings3D Combine Vertices

Does anyone know if it is possible to combine/join two vertices into a single vertice in Wings3D? For example, in the image below can the four sets of vertices be combined so that the two cubes form a rectangle with only four verts in its center? [edit] Image removed |

Go into face mode, select the two faces, right click and hit 'Weld.' Think that'll work. Can't test it here since I'm on my laptop. |

Actually it is not "Weld" but "Bridge" |

Cheers Noel. I followed your instructions but the 'Weld' option only appears to be available in the 'object' mode. When I select weld after selecting the inner faces it gives a message 'Found no faces to weld'. I'm trying to join two halves of a mesh together, so the example I've given above isn't very good. The two inner faces would not be present, just the vertices. |

Ah, thanks Sebe. Bridge almost does it, but what if I don't have any faces on the insides of those cubes? |

face mode. select the to faces, hit bridge. faces must have same verts number. If not, u add some cuts to be so in one of the faces. Once bridged, select one of the edges of the resulting ring.Hit g to select the ring. Menu Select/store selection (yet in edges mode) Ok, now move one of the cubes to the left (or right), or move only one of the loops (there are now two loops of edges that enclose the ring) as close to the other as u can. If I wanted just to make the loop get in the middle (not mathematically exact, but more or less) , then I'd select the verts forming all the center thing, scale in x axe (whatever is the axe in the horizontal side to side direction in that screen) till I got em coincident (while u'r doing the operation u can thumb, thumb, or pan, nice wings3d feature) zoom to ensure that...drop the thing once u se em coincident in a brute zoom in...Not mathematically 100x100 accurate, but quite close. Ok, go to edges mode (u surely turn before to verts mode, I guess for the verts moving, probaly) , and...menu select/recall selection...You wont see a thing, but u'll have now uber small ring of edges selected...just not visible, so small. Ok, now, right click wherever, and..."collapse" Now, resulting collapsed verts will be in red, selected.U've truely welded the thing. Not with wings3d loaded, I just know it quite from memory , lol... ;) |

Edit: You can do what Bob said and follow a load of steps or do one thing with my explanation. Viper: Notice the little window-esque button next to the Weld text, click it and increase the tolerance. |

oh, is not the faces INSIDE the cubes to bridge... it's the ones in the laterals, but in the center of that screen... |

oops, sorry. so true what noel said. last time I used weld it did something weird, but surely was when first added the feature... yup, now works with no problems. |

@Noel: Thanks, I never noticed those little window gadget thingies. @Bob3d: Yeh, there are no faces to bridge on the inner surfaces of each mesh. BUT... I've just tried bridging the two 'holes' and that sort of worked. Thanks again for the help fellas, I'll have another tinker with it. |

ehm....noel. The method I mentioned has some huge advantages in many situations...not in this one, though.(besides, playing with the threshold often eats more time than wished) The hole, if was hole material, for wings is just another face more (put in flat shaded mode, and u'll notice) If it were really hollow (strange situation, but achievable, in wings) u could surely connect to make faces and bridge. that if there weren't some errors in geometry.anything with 'hole material' will disappear when exported as obj. |
