F-86 Fighter Jet Here's some quick renders of my F-86 model I made in Blender3D: |

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. Looking really good John. I'm guessing around 800 tris? |
| ||
Thanks for the feedback. It's just under 650 tris. I intentionally made it low-poly for games, of course. :) Hopefully, that won't take away from it's realism. |

Hey, not bad! I like Sabre's although my main interest is wwII planes & gear (I have collection of suits, helmets and actual plane parts...). IMO toyr model looks ok, but the windshield shape looks slightly wrong... check for example these pages: http://f-86.tripod.com/readers.html http://f-86.tripod.com/ And I would try to model the upper "nose" bulge/tip too because it's so visible and sort of "known feature". Take all this as constructive criticism, of course! |

nice looking start... overall, you've got the general shape, but yeah, some of the lines are off enough to draw attention... being a military aviation history fanatic, i might be a lil more critical than usual, so don't hit me or anything... the canopy side view profile is a lil off, as is the front air inlet side view profile... it is extended a lil too forward and a lil high... the front view profile is basicly there, but the wing root looks a lil thin... finally, the vertical stabilzer is a lil too tall... all are easily fixable... just a tweak there and there... it's gonna look great after it's skinned... --Mike |

Yeah.. thanks for the references to some good pictures of the F86. All I had to go by was a few poor quality pictures, my imagination, and my memory. I'll see if I can improve it a little. Then I'll see about texturing it. :) |

Poop what's the syntax to post an image..? |

Topknot Poop what's the syntax to post an image..? The FAQ has the answer - What are the forum codes? |

Thanks Oddball, clicked everwhere BUT there...figures..;) But for John Gotta have yourself a nice set of Prints, to keep those die harders happy ;) Should help you model more to excate scale and shape ;) I live by these when doing real world stuff And here Just seperate out the respective views and arrange them in your modeler of choice and you got youself an excellent Blueprint to work off of. Then later you can overlay them when texturing and have correct body lines and placement too.. Topknot ;) |

Meh...can you find me some prints like that of a P-80 and Me-262!? |
| ||
Sorry John, Didn't mean to steal your posting, P-80 ME 262: Did a butt load of WW2 modeling for Blitz2 a few months back ;) |
| ||
Thanks topknot! That's really nice. That's just what I need to make my f86 perfect! Didn't mean to steal your posting, That's okay. Those are useful to me too. They are all excellent. I'm curious as to where you got them. I'm guessing you got the F86 one from NASA because of the logo in the corner. |
