Hey guys, I wanted to show off my Milkshape made gold star. [imghttp://www.icetec.net/goldstar.jpg] (i spent lots of time on the gold-material) |
| ||
That's a yellow star, for me. Anyhoo... are you aware that there's a company called Goldstar Software already? Or a DVD/TV/Video manufacturer called Goldstar? Spose you could call it Yellowstar... |
| ||
How would i get a better gold effect? I was thinking to cubemap it also in B3D, that would at least make it more shiny. About "Goldstar" being a company. nope i did not know that. but i checked for europe, and there is not a company called goldstar whois selling or making games or anything in that line. |
| ||
LG, Lucky Goldstar if I remember correctly... |
| ||
anyone like the idea how the titlescreen is done? (its just a quick sketch.) -image removed- |
| ||
If the background to the splash-screen was red it'd look like a Communist flag. |
| ||
lol!!! k, so i need to change that xD ( i didn't notice until you said it, haha) |
| ||
Well, maybe its only weird people like me who would notice that. I do think that you should change the colour of the backroung or the star, or outline the logo with a dark colour, because light yellow on a white background strains the eyes a bit, you know? |
| ||
Its just a placeholder for the 3D logo im going to make. See it as a blueprint :) |
| ||
Well the star itself is quite nice :) |
| ||
If the background to the splash-screen was red it'd look like a Communist flag. XD That's exactly what I thought when I saw it. |
| ||
Gold is a lot more orange than yellow - you may want to look at that unless you're going to call yourself Yellow Star. |
| ||
this is the coloors i applied.. aw well ill try harder :( [edit] okies, well i cant get it better than this using colorshading in milkshape. [imghttp://www.icetec.net/star2.jpg] tada! |
| ||
If you are going to use it in Blitz3D, you could maybe apply a spheremap to it. The spheremap is demonstrated in the blitz 3d samples->mak->teapot sample. However, personally, I like your yellow start with the blue background the best. |
| ||
hehe :) so much for a star. Well thanks to all for taking the time to reply. It realy helps me to get the best out of it. @b32, yes good idea, i will try that. [edit] Behold the gold!! [imghttp://www.icetec.net/star3.jpg] unfortunatly i don't get the results in Blitz3D as i get with milkshape :( [edit2] w00t. Saving it to DX8.1 helped. [imghttp://www.icetec.net/star4.jpg] |
| ||
hmm, after all i decided to stick with the colorshaded star... it all gets too... i don't know.. it just doesn't look right. |
| ||
im going to add the title in 3D also =) |
| ||
^^ [imghttp://www.icetec.net/goldstar2.jpg] -mission accomplished- |
| ||
I just put my new website online: http://www.goldstarpcgames.com/?r=blitzbasic (just a logo a.t.m.) (oh, and the star now has eyes ^^ ) |
| ||
Haha...Thats pretty cool. |
| ||
^^ i just put my new website online: www.goldstarpcgames.com (just a logo a.t.m.) The color shades on the site are a bit odd -- the logo on the site looks really washed out on my screen. :-? The the blue + yellow are both too light, so instead of complementing each other they both draw equally much attention, which results in a washed out look. If there were a little more contrast or shading it would probably look much better. |
| ||
ok, i will take that in account. meenwhile, updates on progress can be found in my worklog: http://www.blitzbasic.com/logs/userlog.php?user=5956&log=1458 The last update is about the first title i will be releasing when Goldstar PC Games opens. |
