I am thinking about building a computer or server (haven't decided which yet), and I would like some advice on places to get hardware (at cheap prices).
It is not going to be a high-end computer/server, but it isn't going to be low-end either.

Also, do you know of any good websites that go in depth on the hardware choice and building process?

Thanks

Newegg.

Typically among the cheapest for most components, but more importantly they are one of the best reviewed sites as well: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Newegg

Yes, newegg does look good.
I have also been looking at cpusolutions.com. Does anyone have any experience with them? They seem to offer an easy way to pick what parts you want and send it to you as well as having pre-built options.

Also, is there any advice you have for a computer building n00b?

Never heard of cpusolutions...

They've only gotten two reviews in the past 6 months, sounds like a pretty tiny outfit to me... Although to be fair, the actual ratings that they do get are appear pretty good.

For a server, I highly recommend a DL785. 6 core Opterons are very cool indeed :-)
