Hi, would like to put a video on youtube but 290Mb is too much. Any (free) way to do this. Thanks Jim |

Windows Moviemaker. And no, I'm not kidding. |

Windows Movie Maker is one such option. SUPER has godlike status - totally free. http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html |

I typically use VirtualDub to reencode video. |

Some people find the website for SUPER really frustrating to just download the thing - this is the direct link: http://www.erightsoft.org/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe EDIT: Heh, they even got me at it: http://www.erightsoft.org/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe EDIT: Bah - anyway, you get the idea. NCH VideoPad, free also. |

SUPER has a total car crash of a GUI, and the download process is simply bizarre, but it does work really well in the end. AVIDemux looks like it would do the job quite easily too, in terms of re-encoding with a different codec: http://mulder.dummwiedeutsch.de/home/?page=projects |

Some people find the website for SUPER really frustrating to just download the thing - this is the direct link: No, it isn't -- their website has a bunch of tricks to prevent direct linking. the program itself (and the website) is indeed a shining example of how NOT to design user interfaces, but under the hood it's actually a pretty good program. |

Format Factory is free and very easy to use http://www.formatoz.com/ |

anyvideoconverter is free, but needs to connect to the internet, to download and display side adverts. It's pretty good though :) |

Thanks guys, went with Format Factory (because it was easy to use) and it squished 290Mb to 4Mb. Jim |

Wow, that Format Factory seems like a hidden jewel. Very nice, thanks for sharing. Last edited 2010 |
