OK, I've been accused of never releasing anything so...![]() it is all BlitzMax and OSX ONLY (and you'll need to let it run) There is no sound, but it is functional and complete and ready for testing and comments Get it here: https://adamstrange.itch.io/watt-the-cluck Let me know :) ![]() ![]() |

is no one even going to try? |
| ||
..no win version ? |
| ||
Nope - its OSX only |
| ||
So you decide to create games for only 3.56% of players ? See : http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/ (click on "OS Version") |
| ||
OK Anyone with OSX (and not windows or anything windows related) please give it a go? |
| ||
OK, I've been accused of never releasing anything so... I stand here [well, sitting] and will accuse you of... never releasing anything on Windows! :P Shame I'm just a poor Windows pauper, no family, no friends, the wife has ran off with the eggman, I havent had a decent meal since 1978, which was the year I was born and was given a little bit of bitty for 5 mins! :'( Never mind though.... Looks nice mind! ;) Dabz |

players DD 3.56 ? Dabz |
| ||
I dont know this MacOS that people are speaking of... could you not use bootcamp or parallels to complete a Windows version? |
| ||
OK, I've been accused of never releasing anything so... Mac only doesn't count :p |
| ||
OK. This is a custom version of Max with a custom GL 3d engine written for OSX, THERE WILL BE NO WINDOWS VERSION - NADA, not coming, didn't apply for a seat. It's asleep. who forgot the train, where's the beef? Any Takers? |
| ||
I like beef! :) Dabz |
| ||
Well, i wanted to try it but i haven't found the executable (.exe). Maybe you have forgotten to add it to your archive ? :D By curiosity what is .3do ? Your own mesh format ? |
| ||
Well for anyone that does have a Mac I think you're in for a treat, I thought it was really good. I like the quirky graphics and the animations on all the little characters are well done. I was glad you can jump diagonally otherwise I would have been screwed on a number of occasions! I did fall for the panda-hidden-up-a-tree-trap a few times though! I liked the Beachy Head reference when you fall off the edge, I happen to live in Eastbourne :) I should think there's a number of different game styles you could attempt with this engine you have that'd be good and work well, a rogue-like comes to mind. Bug-wise, everything ran perfectly with no glitches that I could see - Macbook Pro. |
| ||
OS only... :( |
| ||
clucking bell, Mac only, that'll be me out then.... looks great from the screen grabs! |
| ||
Sadly I cannot try as my sister ran off with the Macbook Pro and I've only got a Macbook 2,1 now. Will be getting a new one to test with OGL 3 but this may be many weeks away. I will DL it now though. |
| ||
looks nice.....can you post a youtube vid of it by any chance for those with only windows desktops.... |
| ||
Looks pretty funky. Err, windows can do OpenGL too :p Are you using gpu specific extensions then, or just not tested on a windows unit? |
| ||
@RemiD Yep. .3do (3d object) is my own format. I built the 3d editor first and then in tandem with games. it's very quick to work with. Heres a few shots![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() @Pete Rigz THANK YOU :) @Munch I think it would depend on the OSX version. Should run from Snow leopard or Lion onwards? Be interesting to see how well thought, it's OpenGL 1.2 and uses shaders and frame buffers. @Matty No uTube but here are a couple of animations for you: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
| ||
@Adam>>Yes i have seen others screenshots of your mesh editor, it looks functional and with many possibilities, congrats for this. |
| ||
Should run from Snow leopard or Lion onwards? Be interesting to see how well thought, it's OpenGL 1.2 and uses shaders and frame buffers. Well I tried it on the Macbook 2,1 which has Snow leopard and OGL 1.4 but it just crashed on launching. Even Openb3d won't run in OGL 1.4 because shaders weren't added to the core until 2.0 (framebuffers were added to the core in 3.0). Quoting from Angros "most of the GLSL features in 1.4 are deprecated" meaning using shaders before 2.0 is a gauntlet. |
| ||
I'm on Windows here so I guess that's me f***ed! |
| ||
Looks really good, love those cartoony gfx, but unfortunately I'm in the same boat as many others, as I have a pc. Sorry.... |
| ||
What he said ^ |
| ||
Very nice. Great graphics and overall style - the 3D Frogger sections took me back a while... No bugs/problems at all that I could see - is there a way to exit other than by closing the window? iMac - 32GB - El Capitan. |
| ||
is there a way to exit other than by closing the window? Just the usual mac way: - close the window - menu > wattthecluck > quit - Cmd+q Are there other ways that you were thinking of? Did you try fullscreen? : - ctrl+cmd+f - menu > window > fullscreen Great that you put the iMac specs too :) |
| ||
It does look good and I take it from the comments above that it is similar to Frogger in style (get the chicken to advance across a field and avoid certain dangerous elements?) I'd still love to see your dungeon rpg game (not the ascii one) get made - there have to be workarounds for the problems you encountered while developing it. I'd especially love it if it was available on a platform I can use (windows/android) as I'd happily play it even unfinished (I often prefer playing blitz users' unfinished demos much more than many commercial finished games). from Matt |
| ||
+1 for workarounds And this too: http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=105624 |

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but Arkaedia is not blitz but Xcode, so can only be ported to ios devices |
| ||
Response ;) |

I can realise the source of Cluck. But it relies on loads of support stuff: Rameses: 3d engine Medusa: control engine |

ok. new news.... SOUND Yep, sound has finally been added. You can get it here: https://adamstrange.itch.io/watt-the-cluck Let me know how much your ears bled <grin> |
