Hi :) Here is the first TerraEd Pro demo map :) Can you say me : FPS & Graphics card configuration, please :) ![]() http://www.blitz3dfr.com/terraed_projet/TerraEd_Player.zip |
| ||
Very beautiful man :o) FPS: 30 FPS and 130 FPS depending on the onscreen entities. GLOW took the FPS down by roughly 20 FPS. |
| ||
Hi, between 90 and 110 FPS (100 FPS the most time)with a GeForce 6800 Ultra. Looks good. Nice work. |
| ||
Glow: 40fps NoGlow: 80fps Card: Nvidea 6600GT |
| ||
NoGlow: 18-25fps Glow: 14fps Card: nVidia GF4 440mx Problem: the terrain was covered in snow (or there were textures not showing). |
| ||
It's normal NVidia GF4Mx bug with blendmode 5. Thanks for report :) |
| ||
fps range 90-140, modal fps 95 1.8Ghz Dual 2gb CAS2 7800GT 256mb Sli I guess it's a CPU intensive program as my processor is a bit week on a single threaded program. Thoughts: The terrain texture is bland and the ground had LOD morphing in the near view, the water was quite crude. On the plus side the models where gorgeous. |
| ||
fps range without blur = 12-15 fps range with blur = 8-11 ati radion 9200 256 ram slow prosecer I couldn't see the water at all, then after a few minutes I got a MAV. |
| ||
Glow--->20-36 NoGlow->55-65 nVidia 5600FX, 256MBVRAM, WinXP, P4 2.8GHz, 1 Gig RAM |
| ||
As ever top notch from Filax! |
| ||
It seem to have a problem with ATI Card :( Filax desapointed |
| ||
That's because it's DirectX. ATI are better under OpenGL - but nVidia is way way way way way better under DirectX, the last I looked (two months ago) nVidia's 5th card beat ATI's top offering under DX, and was cheaper. |
| ||
Radeon 9600 Pro. NoGlow: 30-57 FPS, typical ~40 Observation: If you turn around while looking up, those clouds sure look odd twisting around themselves. :-) |
| ||
took about a minute to load. i get a mav when i hit the right CTRL key for some reason. the terrain needs more detail as it's pretty blocky. |
| ||
Yes i have solved many little bug i'll upload a new vesion soon |
| ||
Athlon X2 3800+ and 7600GS: 90 to 110 without glow, 50 to 60 with. Also tried old Athlon 1GHz, GeForce4 MX400 and Windows Me, about 8 FPS until I tried to move. Program crashed and left a text file: __SEH__ 0xc0000005 at 0x100a1e77 CS :0x0000016F SS :0x00000177 DS :0x00000177 ES :0x00000177 FS :0x00002AC7 GS :0x00000000 EAX:0x0303000C EDX:0x003C003A ECX:0x00390138 ESP:0x0062FC30 EBP:0x0062FC4C EIP:0x100A1E77 ESI:0x05EA001C EDI:0x0000000A -- backtrace -- 0x100a1e77:[TERRAED_PLAYER.EXE]:(001:000a0e77) 0x1009c5c2:[TERRAED_PLAYER.EXE]:(001:0009b5c2) 0x1008ea29:[TERRAED_PLAYER.EXE]:(001:0008da29) 0x013e7060:[unknown]:(002:00007060) ... opss, broken by SEH --stack-- 0x0062fc30: 0x00000000 0x05ea0020 0x00000001 0x03031578 0x0062fc40: 0x0039003a 0x00000011 0x000000fe 0x0062fc90 0x0062fc50: 0x1009c5c2 0x013d0034 0x05ea011a 0x00000000 0x0062fc60: 0x05e93910 0x00000001 0x1009fc97 0x10137c68 0x0062fc70: 0x0062fcb4 0x013d0034 0x0000003f 0x0062fa60 0x0062fc80: 0x0062fd1c 0x100a2f5c 0x10104430 0x00000000 0x0062fc90: 0x012d49b0 0x1008ea29 0x05ea0020 0x1004c2eb 0x0062fca0: 0x05ea0020 0x012d49b0 0x013e7060 0x013e7060 |

took far to long to load for a terrain preview. Looked pretty much like the last demo you posted, with the addition of animated water texture, and a cloud layer. |
| ||
look great. I wanna go there! |
| ||
Hi, as i'm on my mac right now i can't test it but the still looks good. I like the art of the clouds, they give the scene a special feeling, although i dunno how this looks when i move. The green in the terrain is a little bit too much green to me or it's just the texture i dislike. Some trees in the distance look like they were floating...but i guess that's not what you're really after... ;O) Regards, taumel |
| ||
Hi :) Thanks for reporting guys :) i have re upload demo. Note : This demo fully executable + media will be distributed in the package when register. |
| ||
Filax..regarding water..as i can remember, you mentioned that in upcoming TerraEd, water plane will be supported by Seyhjahin environment mapper..if so, can you post demo with it in action ?? |
| ||
No because i have removed Seyhajin lib because there is many problem beetween water plane and objects alpha :/ and i prefer remove this... |
| ||
Filax, Lovely as usual, even under water the sand has ribbed effects where waves have washed small piles together! Fab! I would like to see a day/night cycle added in too please...(lol crack that whip! a simple fade day sky box to night sky box would possibly do it). Will we have separate level loading with the pro version so I can have multiple levels in my littel turtle game? Will the data and map settings become relative to the exe and not the absolute settings they used to be? This used to cause alsorts of issues for me moving stuff to different PCs and laptops etc. Love the moving sky Filax, love it to pieces, more, more features like this please! Love the movinf palm trees too - smashing stuff. IPete2. |
| ||
"I would like to see a day/night cycle added in too please..." I have planed this stuff and more :) "Will we have separate level loading with the pro version so I can have multiple levels in my littel turtle game?" TerraEd PRo is multi map, what do you hear about separate level loading ? |
| ||
40fps typical, 30-80 depending on how much of terrain visible 20 with glow. Nice! :) |
| ||
LOL - it's Farcry! Welldone it looks great - runs between 60 and 80 FPS here - about half that with glow. |
| ||
This is a Oblivion killer 60-70 Fps ! Glow fx my machine slows town to 25 fps. (it dose this in oblivion too) Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz, 700 Mb Ram, RADEON X800 |
| ||
Steve, It's funny you should say that, I was at a client's showing some work, one item in particular caught their eye. "Oh yes - FarCry - See that looks fab"... Of course they were looking at a terrain demo I had made using TerraEd... from my proposed Farm game... http://www.blitzbasic.com/gallery/view_pic.php?id=329&gallery=mr&page=28 The blending helped make it look very much like the game in question, and I was well flattered. IPete2. |
| ||
IPete2 you have finished the game ? |
| ||
Nice screenshot - is there a demo? |
| ||
Yes : http://www.blitz3dfr.com/terraed_projet/TerraEd_Player.zip Try it :) it's a map made with terraed pro (coming soon) |
| ||
Er, I was talking to IPete2 Filax - I've already posted my FPS. |
| ||
seems like you fixed the Z-Order Problem? =) lookin' good - and now: GET THIS STUFF released, man! |
| ||
Filax, the clouds are spinning with the camera. Make it so the sprites act accordingly because that's very noticeable. Other than that it looks great man...nice work. |
| ||
Sorry guys - been away for three days (London Expo). There is no game as such, a smiple terrain to move around with objects here and there, and a Particle Candy water falls (very nice). TerraEd went through a few versions during the original development period and I found it a nightmare trying to get the demo working on different PCs and from CD drives- so development stopped, but the demo I did have working is sweet to walk around on the PC it actually works on. There is a couple of little videos on my old - old website which has now been replaced, here: http://www.smartscreenuk.com/terrain001.mpg http://www.smartscreenuk.com/terrain002.mpg Not sure which codec they are as they are so old now. IPete2. |
| ||
Hi Ipete2 it's not a nightmare to use you should modifiy only the relative path, the same problem exist with other applications :) |
| ||
Filax, I found that I could not easily put my demo onto a cd because I didnt know the cd drive letter on different pc's and it was fiddly to sort out. That is why I keep asking for you to alter the way TerraEd works - it should work in any relative path, but it doesnt unless you go into the TED file and change it. How much trouble is it to put a button in to make it relative to the folder, not the C: Drive? Also I couldn't figure out how to have multiple levels and the file format changed three times, which caused me problems maintaining the media correctly. Basic changes to the TED format were needed andit was just unfortunate that I had started demos at the times they changed. Something also changed with the addition of the blend filterering. Not sure what it was but it upset the look of my piece. It got me rather cross at the time becuase TerraEd is such a fab programme. I hope that the new version will not alter formats during development. I hate having to do things twice for no reason. Filax, please do not misunderstand - I LOVE TERRAED ! but it gave me a few headaches over development of two demos - I still like the results though - finally. IPete2. |
| ||
hi IPete2 Of course you are right ! You can't of course use real path to load media. You must change some stuff like .\MyMedia\ Not : E:\MyMedia\ Only do a search and replace under TED file ! I have made the same stuff for the terraed sample ! look inside the TerraEd zip file and load the TED file with notepad, you can see how i have made changes. Example : Demo.Ted Ter_LoadTerraMap("./Map Demo/Demo.Ted") Ted file : TerraEd Map V2.5 (C)2004 By Philippe Agnisola [Map Begin] ./Map Demo/height.jpg ./Map Demo/color.jpg And with the path change i have absolutly not problems ! :) The proof ? TerraEd sample work with any install path ! Donc panic TerraEd Pro will not change format (i hope ...) i have made a new file format. IYO do think usefull to make an internal converter from old terraed map under new the software ? |
