The game has died, but i have packed a tech demo to show off what blitz3d can handle... if you want to try it out - grab the file here:

http://www.t3k-entertainment.com/freefiles/Dvy-Tech-Demo-Pre-Alpha-09-08.zip

It's an early state, full of bugs and missing features ;-)

Have fun!

You get us all excited to see a tech demo of this long awaited game and then drop the bombshell that it's dead. Bah, talk about a good news-bad news post. :p

Downloading it now, will have a play after work if I can.

Make money out of the dead project - sell the code and media to multiple parties - ie a free-for-all - you sell as many copies as you like.

EDIT:
In fact, multiple packages - media only - code only - code and media.

Maybe add a licence for anyone releasing a commercial game with the code/media.

EDIT:
Wait a minute - if this was an online mutiplayer game, then my interest level just dropped.

missing features

Yep.

To be honest there isn't much 'tech' in there. I wouldn't class it as something to show off what Blitz3D can do.

This is amazing. If I may ask, why is it dead?

puki(Posted 2009) [#6]
Amazing?

I must be missing something.

I had an empty map level to walk about in - no AI bots or anything - nothing much to do.

This may be a good idea. I love the models.

This is so damn sad... i was sitting in fronta my outlook express reading ur newsletter crying ".. R.I.P. .."??!? WHAT THE FUCK!.. and then i read the same thing here ..

This isnt much of a motivation for me going on developing my own project.

Why did it die? School pressure? work? family, sudden change of moral ..?

Anyway, your "tech demo" is great, although it doenst look like there has much happened within the past 4-5 month..

Plse sell ur code. Would be interested in the way u implemented some routines..

*sniffing*,

It is dead because Marler has quit his work. A few months ago (about 9 until now) his father died (heartattack) - and from that point he didn't do any modelling anymore. we were in the state of animating the main character (he can't walk, only reloading and shooting animation were done)... thats why there is no bots in game...

Mortiis(Posted 2009) [#10]
You can always find a new 3D artist?

t3K|Mac(Posted 2009) [#11]
the good ones want money. trying to find a good one who does this for fun (in first place) is very difficult.

Xzider(Posted 2009) [#12]
Sad. All blitz games that are intended to be online die off quickly.

Chroma(Posted 2009) [#13]
Dude, that game has great potential. I say find a new artist and carry on. It's freakin' awesome man... I love the DoF effect when you're reloading. I've never seen that before. Heck if this had really stable multiplayer I would license the engine for my own purposes!

This is on par with Killing Floor and Half-Life imo. Geez, keep going with this...

beanage(Posted 2009) [#14]
i've seen it in crysis before.. well, thats sorta comparison one can be proud of!

granada(Posted 2009) [#15]
Loved it,like it when the grenades explode in the air.Nice work

puki(Posted 2009) [#16]
How did you get grenades? I want grenades.

granada(Posted 2009) [#17]
Go throu the numbers 1,2,3,4 Smoke is cool to.

puki(Posted 2009) [#18]
Is there anything to kill? I've not yet found anything to shoot.

Sad it looks like a winner to me.

mtnhome3d(Posted 2009) [#20]
what program was the modeling being done in?

t3K|Mac(Posted 2009) [#21]
It was done with lightwave.

BlitzSupport(Posted 2009) [#22]
That's a shame. This was looking like a really good project!

Sad to hear about the RIP thing. It was a promising project. Then again, when you aim to such a high level of professionalism... most of these are never finished.

Suggestion: don't call it RIP, just say it's frozen for some time. This may be the next 100 years, or maybe only one or 2.
