| Nowadays, a single image. We have graphics chips whose job is to rotate stuff; it's essentially free because everything goes through them anyway, and fewer images mean less strain on graphics memory. Twenty years ago, it was the other way round. Don't fret too much about what's optimal unless you are seeing problems on your target system. Quite likely it makes no actual difference at all on your project. |
